The teacher show the phrases about the pictures to the students P1 wake up P2 get up P3 get to the bus stop P4 get to school P5 realize Then ask the students to make sentences like this: By the time I got up, my brother had already gotten in the shower. Listen to the tape twice ,fill in the blanks and check together. Repeat these important sentences: By the time I went outside ,the bus had already left. When I got to school ,I realized I had left my backpack at home. Pairwork : take turns being Tina , look at the pictures above and tell what happened to you this morning. Section A(2a 2b 2c) Listen to Tina ,continue her story , number the pictures [1-4] in the correct order Fill in the blanks with the correct verb forms, then listen again and check the answers. Pairwork : make up an ending for the story and share it with the rest of the class . Section B(2a 2b 2c) According to the knowledge they know, ask the students to talk about the April Fool’s Day . Listen to the tape twice and write each person’s name under his picture. Point to the four pictures and ask the students to tell what is happening in each picture Read the instructions (2b) and point to the list of phrases ,listen to again and find out who says each of the phrases below. (2c) pairwork Point to the sample conversation , ask two students to read it to the class. Ask students to work in pairs and make their own dialogues. After that she watched TV and then she went to bed. 3.(2c)In each line , circle the word that doesn’t belong. dentist homework relative fool (homework) embarrassed exhausted happy lock (lock) costume break down show up oversleep (costume) empty go off stay up realize (empty) 拓展:第一组都是名词但homework指物,其他指人 第二组中前三个为形容词,lock既为动词,又为名词 第三组中costume为名词,其余为动词 第四组中empty为形容词,其余为动词 4.Reading (屏幕展示文章,给出几个问题,让学生带着问题去读,去翻译) Questions : (1) When is April Fool’s Day? (2) When do they usually play jokes on each other? (3) Can all jokes be played in western countries? April Fool’s Day April 1st is western traditional April Fool’s Day. On that day people can play jokes on each other. But do you know not all jokes can be played in western countries ? In western countries people only play jokes which are not important. Newspaper ,radio stations are even more careful. They can’t play jokes on serious and important events . Also ,jokes are only played until noon. After that time people should stop playing and announce what they did is only a joke. 六、作业设计 Ask the students to search more information about the festivals in western countries. 七、板书设计 rush realize invite show up stay up 拓展:homework lock costume empty By the time When +一般过去时 , 主句+ 过去完成时 By the time I got up , my brother ___________ already ________ in the shower.
